I have asked people in email, asked people in the office, asked people giving me rides. I've posted on notesfiles. I've even posted on craigslist!
It would, however, seem that I cannot give away a ticket — free of charge — to the Chicago Symphony Orchestra to hear a performance of perhaps the finest piece of music ever written (IMNSHO): Brahms' 4th.
It's even a good seat, at that.
I don't know why this irks me so, but it does.

Yeah, it's a shame. Nobody is interested in classical music anymore (Uh-uh, I started whining, I'm becoming my grandparents!) :-)
No seriously, I would very much like to go there - but the way to Chicago is too damn long.
But I often go to a classical concert when I get a ticket for free / cheap.

Hello. It's my first time here. I offer you an idea, albeit a crazy one. But what the hell, here goes.
Go out and get a gift certificate for a dinner for one person at a modest, affordable restaurant near Symphony Center. Then, go out and find a lonely homeless person on the street, again near Symphony Center. Give that person the ticket and the gift certificate and send them out for an enjoyable evening.
Peace,
Steve
P.s. It's a sincere suggestion, as wacky as it seems.
